V E L D I S TALK || THINK || TEXT || THEM It was oddly quiet here in the forests today, and it made Veldis slightly on edge. The snow was gradually melting, seeing as how winter was soon ending, but there was still enough on the ground to soften most sounds. The white cold stuff wasn’t something foreign to the male, and he rather liked the cold sensation that stuck through his toes while he walked. He’d heard that the land of Regnen had recently become somewhat of a ghost town, and, being the adventurous type, he wanted to see just what had gone on there. From whispers across the grapevine it seemed this one land, although beautiful, had a difficult time keeping one owner for very long. It couldn’t have been the food, as even though it was still winter, he saw a decent amount of hares bounding away from him as he approached. Maybe the legend of the Schrien Forest was true, and that there was really a monster that lurked within.
Veldis felt himself laugh outwardly at the thought. Gods and superstitions were something he long ignored, preferring the comfort of ‘mere mortals’ to fairytales of all powerful beings who simply toyed with the world as if it were their plaything. Plus, if there was a beast waiting for him in the heart of Regnen, he preferred it to be the killable sort, and not some immortal specter. He liked his fights to be winnable, not suicidal.
As he crossed the first of what could only have been an old border marker, he noted the faintness of it. If he hadn’t been searching for it, waltzing on by would have been an easy mistake. Clearly the alpha was either one lazy sack of shit, or hadn’t been around for some time. Either of those options would be fine by him, although he was somewhat hoping for a bit of a challenge. Regardless, the deeper he pushed in to the heart of the forest, the more he realized that the alpha couldn’t have still lived here.
Coming upon the den sites, carved into the edges of some impressive mountain like hills, he was positive the place was abandoned, or at least lacked some sort of definitive owner. There was a faint trace of the scent of a female, but other than that, nothing. No resistance to him plowing straight into the center of the territory, no uproar, nothing. He poked his head into one of the smaller dens and called out a greeting, but received no reply. After a few more minutes of snooping, the placed checked out. Climbing up onto a rocky overhang he struck a gallant pose, letting loose a powerful call which echoed across the forest below.
He half hoped that some of the previous pack, if there was anyone left, had stuck around and heard his call. It’d certainly make his life easier having someone who knew the place as a tour guide than simply bumbling around the underbrush by himself.

Just do it.The diminutive rust and ivory form that was Daleia stood wavering on the borders of Regnen. Her bushy tail swished back and forth slowly, her ears straining atop her skull as her chocolate hued eyes gazed into the distant forest. She was still, the only movement residing in the blink of her lids and the rise and fall of her delicate chest. A war waged within her, her mind a whirlwind of questions and accusations, fear and longing. He’s not coming back. She frowned, thoughts of Fenrir’s disappearance weighing heavily on her mind. It had been many moons since her master had resided in Regnen. For days Daleia had waited for him, laying nestled in her den and eating only when it was absolutely necessary. Once she’d crossed the border and found temporary company in the form of an amiable wolfhound; she had not crossed again after that. Until now. She stood just on the edge of the stale scent markers, white-tipped toes digging into the soil beneath her paws. She could do it. She could run. She wouldn’t truly be free, but she could pretend. She would skirt Auktion rock, avoiding territories as she went. Perhaps she would seek out the alpha of Groavche who was rumored to be a fearsome rex that freed slaves. She could have a life again, maybe find Rosk, perhaps leave this land of blood and despair with him at her side… Run, Daleia. Run. Her muscles twitched and coiled as she moved to spring forward at the exact moment that a howl pierced the silence. She squealed in surprise, paws colliding hard with the earth once more. Breathing quickly she crouched low to the ground, eyes wide. It was not the call of Fenrir that rang in her ears, but instead one of a stranger. For a moment she was torn. She could still flee, and perhaps whoever it was would not chase her. Or…or she could go to the intruder, surrender herself as leftover goods that had slept in Regnen for weeks now, abandoned and alone. After a moment, a desperate sob escaped from Daleia’s muzzle. She could not do it; she could not run and pretend that she was free. She was small, it was winter, and slave drivers were everywhere. I am a fool. She tucked tail and turned, trotting swiftly back through the trees, weaving her way towards the dens. Her gut bubbled and churned with sickening shame, her rounded ears lying flat against her skull as she crept out into the open. It did not take long for her eyes to find him; he stood proudly on a rocky overhang, and it was very clear that he was a wolf used to being in a position of power. A Dominor. He would claim Regnen, and through Regnen he would claim her. She slunk forward with her belly low to the ground, tearing her eyes reluctantly away from the odd markings on his haunches and the scars that swept up his muzzle. She knew nothing about this strange brute with smoldering eyes reminiscent of the changing leaves in the autumn and dark pelt that clung to his sturdy frame. ”I am Daleia,” she informed him immediately, her tone neutral and her head lowered. ”Welcome to Regnen.”☀

V E L D I S TALK || THINK || TEXT || THEM Frigid gusts caressed his tan pelt, relaxing him as he scanned the surrounding woods from atop his craggy perch. It truly was a beautiful sight, even with many of the deciduous trees being nothing but woody skeletons. ‘Why would anyone leave this place?’ He wasn’t too far up, maybe only three feet off the ground, as he didn’t want to be caught off-guard climbing, so he made a mental note to see just how high the slope would allow him when he was more sure of the rock face. Catching a hint of movement from his peripherals he turned his gaze from the mountain outcropping to the disturbance in the not too far off distance. It appeared to be a small fox-like creature, scampering meekly towards his location. When her red dot drew closer he realized that she was not, in fact, a fox, but something distinctly similar. What were those little fuzzballs called again? He decided to solve that riddle a bit later, seeing as how he now had company. As her scent wafted up in his direction he immediately recognized it as the lingering traces of life around the den site. She looked up at him, only for a fleeting moment, then promptly tilted her head downward as she spoke. ”I am Daleia, Welcome to Regnen.”Her belly practically touched the ground as she crouched, Vel guessed trying to be as submissive as possible, which sealed his assumption that the alpha had deserted this place, seeing as no dominant wolf would ever act so politely to an intruder this far into their territory. Dismounting his short pedestal he approached the fem with confident strides. “What’s with the cowering, eh? Show a little backbone, sweetheart, a cute little thing like you can’t afford to be timid.” Playfully he nudged her head upwards, briefly locking eyes with the diminutive girl before taking a step back out of her personal space. “Don’t worry Dal, I’m not gonna hurt ya’, especially after you were kind enough to roll out the welcome wagon for me. My name’s Veldis, but feel free to call me Vel. I’m not too big on honorifics and the sort, but if you have to Boss or Sir is fine I suppose. ” Now that introductions were out of the way, he had time to actually figure out why this little fem had stuck around for so long after the alpha’s disappearance. She didn’t seem too skittish, but was overly submissive. As he faintly observed the red-hued girl, a tidbit of useful knowledge came back to him. If he remembered correctly, Dholes, if that’s what she was after all, were typically stuck as the lower class here in Ravensbruck due to being bullied into submission by their larger cousins. It would explain why she was still around at least. “Another thing I’m not fond of is dancing around, so how about we talk through your options. I have a feeling that you stuck around because that worthless excuse for a wolf who ditched this place was your master right?” He sat down in front of the smaller fem, making sure she hadn’t gone back to looking at the ground again. Veldis deserved respect, but not from sniveling cowardice, and especially not from fear of someone other than himself. “On one hand, I could let you go, pretend I never saw you, and you’d have your freedom.”, he paused to evaluate her reaction before continuing. “But you do understand slavers hardly follow the old rules anymore. You’d be lucky to make it half way through Schrien.” An exasperated sigh left his lips, recalling the pair of idiots who tried to drag him to the rock a few days ago. Slavers seemed to get dumber each time he met one. “On the other, I happen to be looking for a beautiful companion to be my tour guide. The job comes with multiple benefits, If you’re interested.” Veldis teasingly purred the last sentence through a seductive smirk. “Optional, of course.”, was tacked on casually as a polite afterthought. “Feel free to take your time. I’ll be right over here.” And with that he stood up, and proceeded to halfheartedly investigate each of the den sites. WC: 703 TAG: ⋆Ravɛn / DALEIANOTE: murpmurp. flirtyflirt.

“What’s with the cowering, eh? Show a little backbone, sweetheart, a cute little thing like you can’t afford to be timid.”Daleia’s head jerked up suddenly to find the brute standing before her, his undoubtedly handsome face showing no signs of anger or harshness. And cute? The word echoed in her head as she slowly straightened, watching him with barely restrained interest. The briefest moment passed where nothing happened, and then suddenly he was leaning forward to nudge her chin upwards, backing away before she could even respond. He introduced himself as Veldis, or Vel, after assuring her that he wouldn’t harm her. He was so intriguing that it wasn’t difficult for her to believe him as she watched him sink down on his haunches. “Another thing I’m not fond of is dancing around, so how about we talk through your options. I have a feeling that you stuck around because that worthless excuse for a wolf who ditched this place was your master right?””That…that’s right,” she replied, clearing her throat as she lifted herself to her full height, which was still not nearly as large as the wolf who sat before her. After a hesitant pause she sat as well, curling her fluffy tail around her white-tipped toes as her voice gained confidence, although a level of respect was clearly present. ”His name was Fenrir. I haven’t seen him for some time now.” Veldis went on to offer her options, and this was perhaps the most startling thing of all. He was offering her freedom. She stared at him, uncomprehending. Never before had a Dominor even hinted to her that she would be freed, and now here the option was suddenly, dangled tantalizingly before her very nose. And yet he was right. She wouldn’t get very far on her own before she was snatched up and dragged back to Auktion rock, perhaps to be claimed by someone much crueler than she’d ever imagined was possible. “On the other, I happen to be looking for a beautiful companion to be my tour guide. The job comes with multiple benefits, if you’re interested. Optional, of course. Feel free to take your time. I’ll be right over here.” There was no mistaking the flirtatious lilt to his voice that had Daleia smirking without truly meaning to. So he was one of those brutes; the smooth-taking, handsome kind that would have most she-wolves panting and swooning in no time. She watched him closely as he wandered off to the dens, taking a brief moment to consider his offer. Truly she knew what had to be done; she could not risk being taken by slavers, and Veldis seemed…kind. It was such a foreign idea that Daleia’s nose scrunched as she stood, brushing dirt from her pelt before hurrying after him. She slipped into the dens just after he did, stopping to watch him investigate. ”There is one in the back that’s quite large,” she said quietly, brown eyes gleaming. ”The small one there, off to the left, is mine. You can find feathers and supple bits of bark in the woods that make for comfortable bedding. Or I could go and fetch some for you…Veldis.” The last word felt odd on her tongue; never before had she called a dominor by his name. ☀

V E L D I S TALK || THINK || TEXT || THEM As Veldis scrunched his large frame into the den opening he was half expecting to find the husk of the wolf he now knew as Fenrir wedged off in some dark corner, half eaten by decay, and left to rot. Having hauled enough vile corpses during his coliseum days to know just how unpleasant the task was, doing so again was not a task he had eagerly looked forward to. Apprehensively slinking further in, he sniffed the dusty air. The lack of death-stench was relieving, to say the least. With the largest hurdle conquered, the brute felt himself relax a bit as he poked and prodded his way in and out of several front caverns. ”There is one in the back that’s quite large. The small one there, off to the left, is mine.”He turned his head to meet the little Dhole, chartreuse eyes gleaming in the low light. He didn’t want to feel responsible for tracking her down again should she have left and gotten herself captured, so seeing her illuminated behind him placated his concerns. Curiously Veldis peered into the den Daleia had claimed for herself, and found he could barely fit more than half of himself past the opening. “Looks like you won’t have to worry about me sneaking in for a late night spooning session.” His laugh echoed across the hardened walls as he less than gracefully heaved out of the hole. Back home he was relatively average sized for the kingdom, but he gathered from this and other similar experiences that things around here were a bit smaller than what he was accustomed to. Luckily enough the spot in the back Daleia pointed out was more than acceptable, and he deemed it so with a few cursory nods. He’d explore the rest of the area later to see the other locations, but for now it seemed to be the best place for him. “You can find feathers and supple bits of bark in the woods that make for comfortable bedding. Or I could go and fetch some for you…Veldis.”
Like a good host Daleia was full of useful information and offers, something which Veldis was very thankful for. Still, he didn’t want her to feel like she had to do everything for him, so he offered to help. “Why don’t we both go looking? You can show me some landmarks along the way, madam tourguide.” He winked and trotted out of the enclosed space, clearly not taking no for an answer. If he was to rule over Regnen lay of the land was especially important, and Daleia seemed to have a good grasp of this place. Prancing a few paces forward, Veldis waited to follow Daleia’s lead. As they began walking he figured now was as good of a time as any to ask some basic questions. “So, my lovely little Dhole, tell me about yourself. How long you’ve been here, interesting folks, dislikes, favorite season?” He paused, grinning genuinely. “Honestly, mine’s autumn. Call me a pup, but I love the leaves. Didn’t have many where I grew up, so coming here it was pretty impressive.” Veldis laughed lightly, remembering the first time he saw the huge forests of Ravensbruck. Kolstad was a savannah-like land, so forests were few and far between. Jerking himself back from his memories he looked at Daleia, awaiting a few answers as they walked. “Looks like you won’t have to worry about me sneaking in for a late night spooning session.”Daleia glanced up quickly, her rounds ears swiveling atop her head in confusion. It wasn’t that she’d never had a Dominor make suggestive comments – she had, many times, and it no longer embarrassed her. Veldis, however…there was always a hint of flirty playfulness in his words that threw the Dhole off. It wasn’t like he was demanding anything from her; instead, he turned away to explore his own dens before she could even answer. She was grateful – it wasn’t like she’d known what to say, anyways. So much for being smart, she thought snidely, following after Veldis. His suggestion for them to explore the woods and gather bedding together wasn’t an unpleasant one, and when it became clear that he was waiting for her to lead, she did so in silence until he spoke once more. “So, my lovely little Dhole, tell me about yourself. How long you’ve been here, interesting folks, dislikes, favorite season?”Daleia paused long enough for Veldis to charmingly offer his own favorite season, a small smile forming on her lips as he did. She led him deeper into Regnen, her voice beginning tentatively and then strengthening the longer she spoke. ”Mine is autumn as well. The colors are so beautiful, and the temperature is just right. As for your other questions…” She glanced back at him, little legs working hard to lead him at a pace that was not exceedingly slow. ”I have only been here…a week, perhaps? No, closer to two. Not a month yet. My previous Dominor disappeared quite quickly. Dislikes?” Here she paused, wrinkling her nose in bafflement. She’d never had anyone ask her what she didn’t like, because it had never really mattered before. Besides, all of her true dislikes centered around her position as a sklavin, and she wasn’t entirely sure that Veldis would like to hear that, no matter how different he seemed. ”Heat,” she began slowly, mind working to come up with other things. Inexplicably her thoughts flicked to Rosk, and her eyes narrowed. ”Thieves.”She glanced over her shoulder once more, her expression clearing as she shrugged a single delicate shoulder. ”There aren’t many things I dislike. I’ve never really had the time to consider them. Likewise, there’s also not many interesting people in my life. I think you’re the most lively one I’ve met in some time.”It wasn’t a lie. Something about Veldis was so charming and relaxed, and while it still confused Daleia slightly, she appreciated it. She continued to lead him through the trees until finally her tiny paws led them to the stream that streaked through the trees, extending far beyond the border. She stopped and gesturing towards the water with her slender muzzle. ”This is the largest part of the stream. You can usually find fish, now that it’s not frozen anymore.” It was primarily what she’d been feeding herself for the last few days. ”Rabbits like to come here as well, and usually deer. I don’t bother those, however. I don’t think I’m much of a threat to them,” she said wryly, brown eyes flickering with a hint of amusement. ☀

V E L D I S s o m e LEGENDS a r e T O L D, s o m e t u r n t o DUST o r t o GOLD.
TALK || THINK || TEXT || THEM His lengthy appendages easily kept up with the dhole’s strides, seeing as how they were created by legs which were vastly shorter than his own. Veldis now noticed how different the two were, greatly amused by how stumpy the other canine was in comparison. For each one step he took, Daleia easily took at least twice that. When she spoke, she turned back towards him and he altered his focus from her tiny gait to her muzzle. Her smile was genuine; a toothy gesture which was not lost on Veldis as his companion uncovered their shared fondness of autumn. He returned an ivory crescent of his own, listening attentively as Daleia continued to speak. It surprised him to learn how quickly the old dominor had claimed the land, or at least the dhole before him, and then subsequently abandoned it. Still, even with how short of a time she’d spent within Regnen, Daleia seemed to have a proficient lay of the land, making no noticeable attempts to backtrack nor hesitation with her heading. Maybe Veldis was just bad with directions, or maybe Regnen wasn’t too complex, but it seemed like a noteworthy feat to the male. He made a mental note to complement her on that later as she spoke again. ”There aren’t many things I dislike. I’ve never really had the time to consider them." He laughed at her statement, enjoying her honesty. Veldis, too, put little time into compiling animosities, for if one thought long enough about anything, there would always be something to dislike about it – or at least that’s how he saw it. Still, he was surprised she didn’t state some character trait and link it to dominors, or the system of slavery. It was probably due to her current situation, which made perfect sense, yet he wanted to know her opinions of it. Likewise, there’s also not many interesting people in my life. I think you’re the most lively one I’ve met in some time.True, so far the denizens of Ravensbruck so far had seemed lackluster to Veldis, but hearing it from a local was more disheartening. He’d hoped, albeit a smidge too eagerly, that folks would somehow be different over the border. Still, it was a big country. Hearing he was the most spirited individual Daleia’d met in some time didn’t mean there weren’t more entertaining people out there somewhere. “You mean to tell me a cute little thing like you doesn’t have anybody special? Not a single one? Slave or not, I find it hard to believe.“The brute smirked, lightly chuckling. After walking along a bit more the pair came to a river, which appeared to be flooded slightly from the excess water runoff and melting snow. Peering into the steady current, he heard Daleia inform him of the fishing potential of the river as well as other food sources nearby. Veldis grinned at her deer comment, finding the thought of a lone dhole like herself taking on a full grown stag to be fairly amusing. The whole fish thing though –now that was really interesting. “Even if you can’t catch deer, I gotta say, that whole fishing thing is pretty impressive. Back home we didn’t really have rivers, or at least not constant ones, and we definitely didn’t get fish from them.” Thinking back at it, even when he had earned his way out of the pits and earned the right to visit the trickling streams freely, he doubted they had the capacity to hold fish. He didn’t even learn about the scaly creatures until his flight from his home, so eating them was an even stranger concept. “You should teach me that sometime.” He looked up from the water, attempting to hide his eagerness with a flirtatious smirk. “I’m sure there’s something I could do to repay the favor.” Winking slyly he awaited the dhole’s response, and continuation of the tour. WC: 652 TAG: DALEIA / ⋆RavɛnNOTE: I think this is ok yeah? Tehee. Dal is adorbs. Can continue tour, teach him how to fish, whatevs. As usual, need any more to write on/changed, I can add it. <3
